- Opportunity to provide ongoing professional development topics and
- technical assistance/support to pre-kindergarten to 9th grade teachers in Kenya East Africa in an collegial and mutually-beneficial, safe environment. Resources used might include KhanAcademy.org, Code.org, or other online resource that is accessible free of charge.
- Education Crosswalk can be described, in part, as a sort of Education
- Mastermind and Coaching Program.
- Education Crosswalk is intended to provide a true cross-cultural and expressly global reciprocal learning environment where classroom experiences can be shared and academic teaching and learning resources can be identified, explored, and utilized.
- Education Crosswalk sessions can be held in workshop, presentation, seminar format
- After or during each Crosswalk encounter, teachers (in Kenya) should
(1) know how to effectively leverage resources explored,
(2) have a better understanding of the purpose of each resource, (3) have acquired a practical skill that can be immediately used with the learners/pupils or personally (4) be allowed time to ask questions |

Why:
- Motivated By Love King’s Academy teachers and leadership requested teacher professional development as a priority. Education Crosswalk will connect education/academic/technology professionals in the USA with teachers whose schools are beneficiaries of Dorcas Destiny International’s support, primarily via Motivated By Love King’s Academy (Opoya Village, Migori County), Victory School (Nairobi), and Bright Education Centre (Nairobi).
How:
- Via internet on Zoom or Skype
Expectations and Responsibilities of an Education Crosswalk Volunteer Educator:
- Have at least one (and no more than three) concrete objective or learning goal for each one-hour session;
- be online no later than 15 minutes before scheduled start-time of session;
- identify your own replacement if unable to present at scheduled time/day;
- allow enough time for Q&A within the hour;
- utilize online tools as much as possible, particularly ones the teachers can use with their learners;
- make the presentations as interactive as possible;
- email list of attendees to Education Crosswalk coordinator or director after session
- use discretion in providing contact information (even through social media)
